STO N SHO LLC, a California based veteran and woman owned business, was founded as Big Mike's Performance Parts in 2012. Mike McKinney, a retired disabled veteran of the United States Air Force and his daughter, Mashell started Big Mike's Performance Parts in 2012 while Mashell still worked full time as a nurse at a local hospital. While Big Mike's Performance Parts started in the family garage in Salinas, CA, today STO N SHO LLC is starting to outgrow their 6,000 square foot facility located in Morgan Hill, CA.
Mike invented the STO N SHO when his son, Mike, and daughter in law, Ilia, bought a 2012 Roush Mustang. Mike and Ilia did not want to put holes in the front of their new Mustang to install a front license plate, but kept getting ticketed when parked at their local courthouse for work. That's when dad came to the rescue and came up with the design for the patented STO N SHO. Since then, the STO N SHO has gone through many stages of evolution before landing on the design that it's known for today.
Recognizing that he had a product that others could benefit from as well, Mike enlisted the help of Mashell to start his new company, Big Mike's Performance Parts. With the start of his company, Mike had one goal in mind. Mike's goal was to create a solution for those customers who wanted to maintain the look and character of their vehicle while allowing them to comply with the laws of those states requiring a front license plate to be displayed at all times.
